Artists Making Noise at Miami Music Week 2026

Four days at Shift Miami and a week around Ultra gave us a lot to take in. Here are the artists and moments that stayed with us.

Laidback Luke and James Brown

I Got Soul (Super Bad) was the first official collaboration between James Brown and an electronic artist ever. Released on Dim Mak Records, Laidback Luke described it as the biggest collaboration of his career. He has worked with Daft Punk, Madonna, and Donna Summer. So that is saying a lot.

We caught up with Laidback Luke at Shift Miami and his energy said everything. He is at a point in his career where he is doing exactly what he wants and it shows. His CODE/RED EP was a full reinvention and the James Brown collaboration was the centerpiece of it.

Linney at Ultra

Linney had one of the biggest weeks of any artist at Miami Music Week. She performed Heaven live with Steve Aoki during the Dim Mak 30th Anniversary Stage Takeover at Ultra, and the mainstage crowd went with her the whole way through. She also featured on Layton Giordani's Act of God which won House Song of the Year at the EDMAs. She is building real momentum and Miami 2026 put a lot of eyes on her.

Anaya (Esther Anaya): the violin finds its voice

We sat down with Anaya at Shift Miami for the Redefining Music podcast and she was locked in. Writing, producing, mixing, and mastering every track entirely by herself. She is doing something genuinely different in dance music right now, using the violin as a lead voice and making it work on the dancefloor. Inspired by the nostalgia of Avicii, driven by a mission to uplift others. Her 2026 is already a big one.

The one panel I got to sit in on during the four days was Changing the Tempo and honestly it was the right one to catch. Rach Brosman from Support Women DJs, Elaine Huang of Neon Owl, Paulette Varelas of MLENNIAL, and artists Wenzday and JVNA were all on stage and the conversation was real from the start.

The thread running through everything was simple: there is enough room for all of us. Women in dance music are not competing with each other the way the industry has historically tried to make them. They are building community, sharing platforms, passing the mic to the next generation, and calling on the men in the industry to show up as allies. And a lot of them are doing exactly that.

I got a few minutes with both Wenzday and Rach after the panel. I asked Wenzday how we can actually amplify women in dance music as a community.

Benny Benassi: Male Icon

We were on the red carpet when Benny Benassi received his Male Icon award at the EDMAs.

He also played a surprise set at the Moxy Hotel later in the week that nobody was ready for. Pool deck packed. Everyone locked in. That is Benny Benassi. The recognition is well earned and the performances back it up every time.

MEDUZA

We caught up with MEDUZA at Shift Miami and asked them about the week. Their answer was the kind of thing you write down.

"Every time is like the first time, with new music and old friends. The best thing is the music that connects everything. This is the best moment from the year for me." — MEDUZA

We asked about their biggest accomplishment this year. They talked about playing together as a trio, the crowd singing every word back, the live instrumentation doing something none of them expected. The reaction was bigger than they saw coming.

EDMA 2026: The Full List of Winners

The Electronic Dance Music Awards had a new home in 2026. For the first time the ceremony landed at The Clevelander South Beach on Ocean Drive, right in the middle of Miami Music Week and just ahead of Ultra weekend. The energy was different in the best way. No stiff award show format. No long acceptance speeches. Winners came up, grabbed their Deck trophy, and the party kept moving.

Amplify EDM was on the red carpet. Kay Cote and Ay Kaye were out there the whole night catching artists as they came through.

Martin Garrix had one of the biggest nights of anyone in the room. John Summit took home Male Artist of the Year. Alison Wonderland claimed Female Artist. Dom Dolla and ILLENIUM both walked away with hardware. Armin van Buuren picked up wins across multiple categories as he has done so many years running now.

The special recognition awards were the moments the room really felt. Benny Benassi received the Male Icon award.

The energy was alive when Benny walked through to receive his award and shook hands with everyone around. I was able to meet the artist who shaped music for me for years.

Bebe Rexha took Female Icon. Carl Cox earned the Legend award. Sara Landry took Vanguard. Dillon Francis won Impact. Mixmag received Exceptional Contribution.

Shift Miami: How Miami Music Week Found a New Heartbeat

Miami Music Week has always been the week the dance music world shows up. But 2026 felt different.

Shift Miami brought a new energy to South Beach that brought the city to life in a way I have not felt during Music Week in years. The event spread across three iconic venues all within walking distance of each other: The Clevelander South Beach, Moxy South Beach, and The Wolfsonian, the famed design and art museum right in the heart of the neighborhood. Four days, March 24 to 27, and every corner of that campus had something happening.

What made Shift Miami stand out was that it was genuinely built for artists. Not a conference where you sit in a room and watch the same industry gatekeepers give the same talks. The programming gave you real access to DJs, producers, executives, and creatives who are actively shaping what dance music looks like right now. Artist talks, panels, demo drops, meet-and-greets, networking sessions running alongside live showcases and poolside sets. You could bounce between a label meeting and a pool party set in twenty minutes.

The intimate moments between The Clevelander and Moxy were some of the best of the week. Benny Benassi played a surprise set at the Moxy that stopped the pool deck cold. The kind of set you just stand in and soak up because you know you will be talking about it for a while.

The Amplify EDM team was on the ground all four days. Ay Kaye and I worked the red carpet at the EDM Awards, caught artists between panels, and sat down for nearly 40 conversations for the Redefining Music podcast series. Breakout artists like Anaya (Esther Anaya), SUNGYOO, and DND Music alongside some of the biggest names in dance music. Every single conversation left me with something.

Linney’s Journey from WMC Newcomer to EDMA Winner

Every now and then, a story hits so hard it feels like fate—and that’s exactly what happened when I sat down with Linney at Winter Music Conference in Miami.

Linney, a powerhouse in progressive house and melodic techno, brings a depth to dance music that’s both emotional and electrifying. Her latest track, “Act of God” , co-written with Sarah de Warren , is a testament to that. The track took root during a torrential downpour at last year’s MMW. A canceled set, soaked equipment, and a conversation about artist compensation led Linney to one phrase that stuck with her: Act of God. From that moment, inspiration struck—what started as a soaked weekend became a viral anthem played by John Summit and Dom Dolla , now heard across dance floors worldwide.

I asked Linney what it was like to perform the song at the Experts Only show, and her eyes lit up: “It’s pretty wild to see how much support we’ve gotten on the record,” she said. It was even more surreal when Laidback Luke , who she first met at a writing camp in Sweden, remixed the track and invited her to perform it live in L.A.

The opportunity to share my story on Famous Interviews with Joe Dimino came about shortly after Amplify EDM events started taking off! Today, I want to share not just my story, but also how you can turn your dreams into reality, no matter where you are starting from. My journey—from the open plains of North Dakota to the heart of Austin’s EDM scene—was full of twists and turns, but each challenge pushed me toward growth, discovery, and transformation. If you're feeling stuck or unsure of your path, I hope my story will inspire you to take that leap and chase your dreams.

From Small Beginnings to Big Dreams

Growing up on a farm in North Dakota, my love for music and performing started at an early age. Even as a child, I knew music was my passion—it was the one thing that made me feel alive and connected. I started singing and dancing as soon as I could walk, but like so many of us, I didn’t always know how to turn my passion into a career.

Years later, I found myself in the world of live radio, hosting and producing The Business Babe Community Connect show. It was during this time that I discovered my love for conversation, storytelling, and, most importantly, building community. But I didn’t stop there. I knew I had to follow that calling deep within me, and that’s when I transitioned to podcasting and eventually found myself in Austin’s thriving Electronic Dance Music (EDM) scene.

Austin opened up new possibilities for me—possibilities that I never dreamed of back in North Dakota. The music, the energy, and the people all contributed to something bigger than myself, and I quickly realized that if I could make this leap, anyone could.

The Power of Transition: P.I.V.O.T.

Throughout my life I've faced many transitions. Today I want to share with you a framework that helped me through times of change. Whether you're looking for a new career path, starting a creative project, or moving to a new city like I did, these steps can guide you through the process.

Pause:
Before making any big changes, I had to take time to pause and reflect on what I truly wanted in life. After moving to Austin, I had to assess what direction I wanted to take. Was music just a passion, or could it be something more? Pausing allowed me to realign my goals and focus on what was meaningful to me.

Investigate:
At one point, I felt stagnant and unsure of my next steps. I started attending music events in Austin, immersing myself in the local scene. It was during this time that I discovered EDM and instantly fell in love with the vibrant community. Investigating new avenues can lead you to unexpected opportunities. Sometimes you just need to explore the unknown to find your true passion.

Validate:
Once I began showing up consistently at EDM events, people started recognizing me as a thought leader in the space. This validation came not just from the community, but also from within. I knew I was on the right path. I started organizing industry nights and experimenting with event planning, which further solidified my role in the Austin music scene.

Open Doors for Opportunities:
Once we started hosting events, new opportunities began to surface. Collaborating with different venues, networking with artists, and taking chances—even when things didn’t go as planned—were key to moving forward. Don’t be afraid to open doors and explore the unknown. Some opportunities will work, and others won’t, but every experience will teach you something valuable.

Transform:
Finally, transformation happens when you embrace the journey and allow yourself to evolve. I transformed from someone passionate about music into a Music Superconnector, speaker, and community builder. Every step along the way—every success and failure—contributed to that transformation.

Take the Leap and Chase Your Dreams

If I’ve learned anything on this journey, it’s that you have to be willing to take risks, embrace change, and follow your passion with everything you’ve got. You don’t have to know all the answers, and you don’t need a perfect plan. What you need is the courage to take the first step, investigate new possibilities, and allow yourself the freedom to grow and change.

So if you're feeling unsure about your path or looking for a sign to make a bold move, let this be your encouragement. Your dreams are worth chasing, and the only thing standing between you and your future is the willingness to P.I.V.O.T. The Journey of Producing and Hosting My First Show: Sessions

The Vision Behind Sessions

Sessions was born from a deep desire to give electronic dance music (EDM) artists a platform to not only perform but also share their personal journeys. My goal was to create an intimate setting where rising talent and industry leaders alike could connect with their fans on a deeper, more meaningful level. Sessions isn’t just another music show—it captures the essence of who these artists are behind the music.

I believe that when we share our stories, we forge real, lasting connections. In a fast-paced industry like entertainment, where everything feels temporary, taking the time to slow down and get personal creates moments that resonate long after the lights go down.

The Production Process: Bringing Stories to Life

As a first-time producer, I quickly learned how much goes into creating a show that strikes the right balance between entertainment and emotional depth. For Sessions, I focused on two key components: high-quality production and a cozy, intimate atmosphere.

I ensured that every show was professionally recorded with high-quality audio and video, because I knew the final product had to meet the high standards of both the music and entertainment industries. From choosing the right gear to working with a talented crew, my focus was on delivering a seamless experience for both the live audience and those who would later watch or listen to the show online.

But beyond the technical side, creating an inviting space was crucial. I wanted Sessions to feel like a blend between a live concert and a fireside chat—offering the immersive vibe of Austin City Limits but within a more intimate, living-room-like setting. Each episode features a podcast recording with a "fireside chat" followed by an hour-long DJ set from the featured artist, giving both the artist and audience the space to connect in a unique way.

Challenges Faced & Lessons Learned

Producing Sessions came with its fair share of challenges, especially as a first-time showrunner. Some of the biggest hurdles included coordinating schedules between artists, ensuring the quality of both live and recorded content, and keeping the audience engaged throughout.

One of the key lessons I learned was the importance of being adaptable. No matter how well-planned the show is, unexpected issues will arise—whether it's technical glitches or a last-minute change in the artist lineup. Being able to adjust on the fly without losing sight of the show’s core mission is what makes the difference between a successful production and one that falls short.

I also learned that having a strong support team is vital. From the crew to the artists, each person plays an important role in bringing the vision to life. In this industry, collaboration and communication are key to ensuring everything runs smoothly.

A Musical Bond Sparks Renewed Purpose

Ever experienced that exhausting grind on a project, only to reach a point of burnout and disillusionment? You're on the verge of calling it quits when, like a bolt of lightning, a moment of magic strikes—a spark of inspiration reignites your drive to press forward. It All Started with a Simple Idea: The Birth of HousWerx Radio Station

HousWerx Radio Station , founded by Jon Samilpa, came into existence during the pandemic after a friend inspired him to initiate the project. It took approximately six months to materialize the concept from inception to launch. The station was established as a means to unite the house music community in Austin, TX. Since its inception, the station has expanded its reach and fostered relationships within the revered Chicago scene, known as the birthplace of House music.

For Jon, this connection was invaluable as he envisioned a community that bridged house music enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

"I want to continue developing relationships with individuals who possess positive mindsets, further expanding the House community here in Austin," Jon Samilpa expresses.

For Jon, the life-changing aspect of house music lies in its ability to bring together individuals exuding positive vibes and a love for dancing. He cherishes numerous fond memories within the house music community.n Light, otherwise known by his artist name, No Light Thing. The two met online on a house music forum where he saw a post No Light Thing made reaching out looking for events and connections in the scene. Jon responded with a message to check out his station to listen to great house music. They continued the conversation in the DMs and the rest is history.

The Power of Connection

This community led him to Evan Light, also recognized by his artist name, No Light Thing. The two crossed paths online on a house music forum where Jon noticed a post by No Light Thing seeking events and connections in the scene. Jon responded, urging him to explore his station for exceptional house music. Their conversation continued via direct messages, leading to an enduring partnership.

Healing Through Pain with Music

Have you ever had a moment when life gave you the 1, 2 KO Mike Tyson style? Yes, one of those moments in time where your whole life changes a 180 degrees and it feels so surreal, like it's not even happening.

This was me after I moved to Austin, TX in December of 2022. I knew moving would bring challenges, yet I was not prepared for how much was going to happen. Everything changed and I found myself in a new place, with new people and a new life. My parter of 7 years and I split and I found myself alone trying to figure out what I was going to do and how I was going to make ends meet. It was here that I decided to start a career in music.

In the Beginning

Let's rewind a bit to when I was a child. Ever since I could walk and talk, I was singing and dancing. My mom told me I would sit and watch Liberace perform on TV in his dazzling costumes -- I was mesmerized by his performance. I would sing songs from the movie Rigoletto at age 5 and sounded just like the movie. Music, rhythm and performing was in my DNA.

Music has been the one thing that has always called me. It never left me, it was always there, even when my life took a multitude of different paths. And when the right opportunity opened up -- like a good friend, music and I picked up right where we left off.

Making Change

After moving, the next few months of my life were pivotal. Although challenging at the time, the unforeseen challenges I faced opened me up to possibilities where I found a version of myself which I thought was long gone. Through the pain and setbacks I found freedom, joy and reignited my creativity and love for music once again.

I gravitated to EDM and found healing through the energetic rhythm. I couldn't get enough, and became a regular at local shows. It was there that I met a community of DJs and producers who welcomed me with open arms. I finally felt like I found my people.

At a time when I felt lonely, lost and unsure of what next steps to take in lif, the EDM community was where I found a home. It brought me so much joy and reignited my creativity and my purpose once again.

New Beginnings Lead to New Opportunities

My biggest takeaway from this experience is that when life throws us a curve ball we have the power to choose what to do with it. We can choose to rise above and take the opportunity to explore something new and pivot into a new existence. Sometimes that can be scary or sound hard, yet life is hard no matter what. I told myself to choose my hard .

Despite many fears of the unknown - especially in a cut-throat industry - I knew I was called to this path. As Amplify EDM started to grow, I found people along the way who were just what I needed. One by one the people I needed showed up in my life. I find when walking in your purpose you are given the tools and resources you need a long the way. My mantra was "seek and you shall find, ask and you shall receive." And it freakin worked!

Why I Had to Get Honest with Myself

It was time to get back to my inner child always singing and dancing. I loved entertainment then and now. Much like my father, I am the life of the party. For years I stifled who I was and tried to fit a mold that both society an my inner voice put me in. I told myself it was better for me to play it safe and take a chance next time . Or worst of all - I told myself that I don't deserve to do the things that truly brought me joy.

After moving to Austin and finding myself alone for the first time in 7 years, it gave me the spark I needed to start thinking differently - one where I frankly stopped giving a damn and became fully honest with myself. I had to take a good, hard look at the life was living and ask myself if it's what I want. The truth is I thrive in the grit, and fast-paced environment of the music industry. I enjoy finding solutions to help those around me succeed. So I took the plunge and started over with a career in music.

How It's Going

Every day is an opportunity to learn and grow, and I'm always willing to change and morph as the industry does. It's a living, breathing industry that is always in a state of flow. Amplify EDM is now a cornerstone in the industry providing resources to help djs and producers grow as well as by providing events with top-notch talent.

Today I'm grateful for the challenges and successes I've seen. I truly believe that when we are under pressure, we are strengthened and come out as a rare diamond with many facits which add to our brilliance. I encourage you to look at your challenges as opportunities, and no matter how big they seem, every single one of them has a solution. And much like it was for me, sometimes that solution means getting back to your truest you.
